Many moons ago, I visited a prisoner of conscience in Mountjoy. The man was a farmer from the Midlands, and he was being detained in the old Training Unit under a relaxed regime.

I was brought to his cell, where he offered me a cup of tea. He was pleasant but spoke with a steely determination.
