The Titan was lost following a likely catastrophic implosion shortly after contact broke down last Sunday. 

News of the death of all five people on board the Titan submersible feels almost personal.

In recent days, we have been introduced to Hamish Harding (58), Shahzada Dawood (48), his son Suleman Dawood (19), Paul-Henri Nargeolet (77) and Stockton Rush (61) and hoped, against hope, that the kind of science which allowed them to visit the wreck of the Titanic would somehow save them too.
