In 2022, 811 million people worldwide, more than 1 in 10 people globally, will go to bed hungry every night, and 785 million people still lack access to basic drinking water. 

The World Health Organisation estimates that 673 million people are forced to practice open defecation worldwide. In the 21st century, these figures are alarming.
