Cartel probe gathers dust for eight years

New information has revealed the drawn-out process underpinning the only major cartel investigation currently under consideration by the DPP.

Eight years ago, at least, contractors involved in tendering for the electrical refit of the Garda College in Templemore were visited by the Competition Authority and documents were seized.

Seven years ago, several other electrical contractors, from Kerry through to the midlands, were also raided in connection with the bidding process for other work.
