ABOUT €86.6m in State funding went towards paying the wages of teachers in 56 private schools.

There are four other ways in which funding is provided. About €261,000 was granted to pay for clerical staff and €1.85m for special needs assistants (SNAs). A further €28,183 worth of technology grants were issued. This is for pupils with special needs who need specialist equipment.
