REFORM in education does not lend itself to simple solutions. The issues involved are complex and sensitive in nature and any changes will have to have the confidence of the public and be based on a broad degree of consensus.

I am paraphrasing Education Minister Ruairí Quinn, whose article on reform was published in the Irish Examiner last month.
