POVERTY can break your heart. I sent my 9-year-old to school in tears today because I told her I just don’t have the €13 she needs to go on her school tour.

She went to school in tears and I came home in tears. I sobbed my heart out for 10 minutes before finding a pencil and doing a bit of maths on the back of a Tesco receipt. I figured out that if I didn’t pay my mobile phone bill, I could pay for her tour. It would be devastating for her if she was the only one left behind.
