Terry Prone: Author book signing events can have a fairy tale ending
Author Mick Herron, of the series, will apparently drop into a bookshop in any city he’s visiting, introduce himself to one of the staff, say ‘I see you have some of my books on sale’ and wonder aloud if they’d like him to sign a few. File picture: Mikael Buck
The greatest star of book signings was Mark Twain. As you’d expect, really.Â
He would apparently prevent the members of the substantial queue from getting bored by cracking jokes with them while they waited, and also found humour in the names of some of the people putting their freshly-bought copy of his book in front of him for his signature.
