Jennifer Horgan: The bumper giveaways to parents in this budget are indefensible

Certainly this is an excellent budget for the parents of children, but that does not mean it’s an excellent budget for all children

'Public dental services have indeed been rolled back. There is now a two-year waiting list for children in need of general anaesthetic. The public service is seeing more and more children turn up at their door in agony, and in need of emergency care.'

A speaker, at a conference I attended last week, suggested we are becoming the Americans of Europe.

Following the release of Budget 2025, I’m inclined to agree.
