A few weeks back, just before the holidays, I was showing some senior students a short clip. Knowing some images were of the Holocaust, and conscious of my exchange students from Germany, I gave a warning beforehand. The exchange students reassured me they had been looking at similar images since the age of 12.

“We learn it so it doesn’t happen again,” one added, with enviable nonchalance.
