Nurses under stress - No easy answer

WORKING in a hospital’s emergency department is, unsurprisingly, stressful — that, after all, is why they are called emergency departments. 

However, working in an over-stretched, under-staffed and under-resourced emergency department is a challenge of an entirely different order.

Today we report that some nurses, when put in an impossible position by overwhelming numbers of patients, but without the colleagues needed to help carry the burden, often have to make decisions they are unhappy with.
