Answers needed - St Patrick’s College
That may be about to change amid disturbing revelations over what Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has referred to as “strange goings-on” there which prompted his decision to remove seminarians from Maynooth and send them to the Irish College in Rome.
His decision comes amid persistent rumours of a gay subculture at Maynooth and has serious implications for the future of Ireland’s national seminary as he is one of four archbishops who are its trustees.
There are also wider implications for the Catholic Church in Ireland as a whole. If Archbishop Martin has lost faith in Maynooth, what of the other archbishops and the future of the seminarians still there?
