Ban all Russian athletes at Rio - Russian doping

RUSSIAN president Vladimir Putin is not a competitor at the Olympics but he might as well be, considering his undoubted role in the biggest doping scandal in history.

Ban all Russian athletes at Rio - Russian doping

Putin isn’t just the leader of the Russian Federation, he is a 21st century tsar and has wielded power in one form or another since 1999.

Both Time and Forbes voted him the world’s most powerful individual and such is his stranglehold on Russia it is inconceivable that he would not have been at least aware and may even have sanctioned the shocking scale of doping by Russian athletes.

A report by the World Anti-Doping Agency reveals that, during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, Russia’s Sports Ministry actively participated in swapping urine samples at its laboratories in Moscow and Sochi, while the Federal Security Service also provided assistance.

The FSB is the successor of the notorious KGB which was run by Putin before he became Russia’s leader.

The doping system in Russia was state run and if the International Olympics Committee is to retain any kind of credibility it must ban all Russian athletes from the Rio Games.

It is a disgrace that soccer’s governing body, Fifa, continues to support Russia in hosting the 2018 World Cup.

After all, the Olympics and the World Cup are meant to be contests among athletes, not chemists.
