Wall for All in Glasnevin is an insulting project

I refer to the Wall for All at Glasnevin Cemetery. I understand that this wall of ‘remembrance’ will eventually include all who died in the War of Independence and Civil War. Listed among these names, therefore, will be the notorious Capt Percival Lea-Wilson.

Wall for All in Glasnevin is an insulting project

This British Army officer tortured prisoners and stripped Tom Clarke in the grounds of the Rotunda Hospital in a crass attempt to degrade and diminish him in full view of staff including nurses. He was subsequently shot dead in Wexford on the orders of Michael Collins who had witnessed this inhumane and degrading treatment.

It simply beggars belief that the Glasnevin authorities feel it appropriate to honour, among others, such an individual. A more ill-advised, ill- thought out, misguided and insulting project during this centenary year I cannot imagine.
