Take inspiration from Sabina Higgins’ speech
The news is of a syndicate of over 50 wealthy individuals made up of barristers, accountants, and others who employed ‘aggressive’ tax avoidance measures on tax revenues due to the public purse (Revenue Commissioners) who represent all citizens; including those on hospital trolleys, those sleeping on the streets, and those dispossessed of their homes; of millions of euros.
That the suppression of their names was part of the deal beggars belief.
Suppressing such information is not in the public interest and must be challenged.
The centenary ceremonies and speeches instilled a sense that a new dispensation for the future is being born, enhancing respect for the common good and adherence to the principles of democracy and our Constitution — a future in which their is no room for elitism, vested interests, and empires of greed.
