The men and women of 1916 risked their lives to free the Irish people from the tyranny of an oppressive colonial empire.

The men and women of 2016 risk their political lives to free the Irish people from the tyranny of oppressive water charges.

Are the opening events of 2016 the most appropriate way to honour the memory of 1916?
