The nitty gritty of a possible repeat election

I’m sure officialdom will tell us, but the thought occurred to me after the stalemate election: If a TD fails to get re-elected and receives a pension and a lump sum for losing his/her seat, what happens if we have another election in a few months and they get re-elected?

I suppose the chances of refunding the lump sum could best be assumed by thinking of the phrase, ‘You have two chances…’
