Our TDs shouldn’t be compensated for incompetence
They will receive a generous severance package in addition to a pension –something not available to the many people who lost their jobs in the past number of years.
Secondly most TDs failed to protect workers from zero hour/short-term contracts. And when the banks failed, taxpayers were used to facilitate a bailout. Yet when the taxpayer had financial problems they allowed the same banks to repossess their home.
In many countries, those TDs would be dragged through the streets in disgrace - Ireland however compensates with lump sum payments and large pensions.
