Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael must work together

The pre-election circus is thankfully over; the people have spoken and the die is cast.

Unfortunately not yet on a winner.

Rather than risk costing the country millions of money on another election, an opportunity now exists, and how appropriate the year, for Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil to avoid extravagance and show prudence by taking part in an ‘historic shake-hands’ and forming a new Government.

It would be a true and practical example of reconciliation and peace; not just to the people of Ireland but to the world at large?

The two largest parties have their DNA in and are the products of the Easter Rising and subsequent civil war.

After a century of trying to be on terms with one and other, they now have less differences to any other combination in the Dáil. Both parties are experienced and have many similarities in policy.

‘Let bygones be bygones’. This should be their logo: moving ahead together to restore us to our former glory; creating employment, giving us better health and social services and generating a sustainable economy that will be beneficial to all.
