True equality should begin in the womb

There is a contradiction at the heart of the Labour Party’s decision to commit to the repeal of the Eighth Amendment in their election manifesto.
True equality should begin in the womb

This decision pre-supposes that ‘choice’ takes precedence over ‘life’. It means that whether, or not, a baby is born is random.

They may experience life and all that it offers to us - or they may just lose out in the ‘lottery for life’.

The principle that equality begins in the womb, that those who have the greatest struggle get the care they need, and that the life and ‘best possible care’ of the mother is upheld at all times, makes infinitely more sense.
