Has loss of faith led to addiction and violence?

This question has been trundling around in my head for a while and it’s difficult to actually formulate it.

I find myself wondering is there anybody making a connection between the violence, crime, drugs, savage killings, including macabre disrespect for the dead, and the new secularism?

Is not all this connected with the death of the Irish Church?

I know we as a Church have made a mess of things but is there not something deeper being lost?

I believe we are losing our soul and we can expect much worse in the future.

At the heart of the recent gangland violence is unbridled greed preying on hopeless addiction. There is a loss of hope.... The darkness deepens.
