Families benefit when mums can stay at home

Ray Kinsella asked an extremely important question about the parties who are fighting the election - “how many political parties are fighting the general election on the grounds of the common good”.

Families benefit when mums can stay at home

The answer is one, just one.

Catholic Democrats has two candidates standing and our main platform is the rights of the stay-at-home mother. I am standing in Limerick and Theresa Heaney will represent stay-at-home mums in the constituency of Cork South West. Our great constitution clearly acknowledges the crucial importance of the work of the stay-at-home mother. Article 41.2 states that her work is so important that without it “the common good cannot be achieved”.

Ray Kinsella is correct when he suggests that unpayable debt is the elephant in the room in this election. But the stay-at-home mother is a more important elephant in that room, and the time has come for political parties to stop pretending she doesn’t exist.
