Homelessness should never be acceptable
Where is the outrage? Where is that Irish sense of justice? Where is the fire in the belly in this centenary year?
My friends, if we have lost this we are in trouble. We will bequeath a legacy to our children that will not serve them well.
It will be an Ireland that may well prosper economically, but that will be a hollow prize indeed, if we continue our indifference.
The true measure of us as a society is how we treat the most vulnerable amongst us.
What TD, what Bishop has the courage, the creativity to lead the fury?
I hear the Taoiseach promise that the homeless are top of the next government’s agenda, but Taoiseach, whilst I know you are a good man, and I would love to believe you, I can’t. I cannot.
I cannot because of those citizens of this republic who have to slink through the back door of hotels to their ‘home’, the room.
