Sharia law should not be recognised in Ireland

It is reported that up to 85 Sharia Courts are “operating” in the UK. Marchteld Zee, a Dutch academic, interviewed a variety of sharia ‘experts’ and Islamic Judges (quads).

Sharia law should not be recognised in Ireland

Ms Zee is of the opinion that “Sharia councils uphold the theory and practice of the stronghold men have over women”.

Sharia is the Islamic legal system derived from the precepts of Islam, particularly the Quran and Hadith.

There have been calls for the recognition of Sharia Law in Ireland. There is already a legal system here and that is the only law which should be recognised and applied.
