You can’t compare IRA tactics to IS tactics

Victoria White writes (Irish Examiner, November 19) that “terrorism is not an extremist version of Islam, any more than the IRA is an extreme version of being Irish”.
You can’t compare IRA tactics to IS tactics

Quite true, Victoria, but did the IRA viciously cut innocent civilian’s heads off?

I am not for a moment defending the inhumane tactics of the IRA, but to construct a parallel between these two terrorist organisations is irresponsible.

ISIS is a phenomenal threat to the security - and liberty - of the Western world. They are getting larger. They are becoming more profoundly barbaric.

There is no negotiating or reasoning with monsters who cannot accept an opinion outside their own ideologies.

They will stop at nothing to cause harm to anybody who refutes such and will become stronger should we not pool together our resources to combat this insanity.
