Gilmore was an epic fail in Government

The 2011 electoral success for the Labour party, was mostly due to Fianna Fail’s grotesque governance failures. By opting to take up the ‘Ministry-of-Absentia’ portfolio (Foreign Affairs), he cast off a true Labour leader’s role in government, battling for employment, welfare supports and the care of needy communities.
Gilmore was a sterling performer in the Dáil chamber when on the opposition bench. There he could ‘talk-the-talk’ but he wasn’t prepared to ‘walk-the-walk’.
