Truth might not be only casualty in repeal of 8th

According to Shaun Connolly (‘Pro-choice side must be proactive ahead of campaign’ Irish Examiner, October 31) Repeal of the eighth will only pass if there is a clear outline of the structures and time limits for terminations in Ireland.

Truth might not be only casualty in repeal of 8th

If the truth be told, (and y’know it probably won’t be, as it is apparently the first casualty in any conflict) that time limit for many is 39 weeks.

They might not state it bluntly; they might completely avoid stating it; they might not be pressed by journalists on the matter; they might say it will be a matter for the Oireachtas but, as far as they are concerned, the 39-week-old foetus is still ‘their body’. Yet these are the very people who are pressing for constitutional change.
