President and Taoiseach absent from funerals. Why?

President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Enda Kenny quite correctly attended the funeral of Garda Tony Golden last week.

However, at the funerals of five members of the Traveller family in Bray on October 20 the President and Taoiseach were both represented by their respective aides de camp.

Why did Mr Higgins and Mr Kenny not attend this very tragic funeral in person? Why do they not treat all the children of Ireland equally?
