Lucinda is beginning to sound like Thatcher

With Lucinda Creighton’s new flat rate tax of 23% people on the minimum wage will be worse off! (Irish Examiner, October 6). For years people in this category have been struggling with paying bills, property tax and water charges.

It appears that Lucinda is trying to hit them with another blow. She is urging them “to work harder, work longer.”

People in these jobs are often not there by choice. They can be temporary jobs that people take up on their way to something else.
