Scandalous neglect of 1916 memorial

Under its control, the 1916 National Monument at 14 to 17 Moore St lies neglected, abandoned, and in a disgraceful state of decay. A plan to create a 1916 Commemorative Centre for centenary year cannot now be realised. This is a 1916 centenary scandal. To date, Nama has financially backed plans to destroy this historic area to make way for a shopping mall, refusing to meet public representatives or 1916 relatives who would like clarification on the following:
1. What expenditure has Nama spent to date in support of the planning application to destroy the Moore St area described by the National Museum as “the most important historic site in modern Irish history”?
2. Where lies the €5m that Nama set aside to restore the monument?
Nama is due before the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday. We expect that these important questions will be aired and answered.
