In Weekend Sport (Saturday, August 22), your picture caption states, “Tommy Griffin blocks down Colm O’Neill’s effort for a point”. The picture shows him pawing O’Neill in the face, an action which could do serious eye damage.

Kerry footballers need to play the ball not the man

In Monday Sport your picture caption says, “Mark O’Shea blocks Darren McCurry”, in a traditional way with both hands playing the ball.

If, or when, Griffin becomes manager of Kerry minors, as suggested on Saturday Sport, I hope he will coach them to play the ball, as O’Shea did, and refrain from pawing opponents’ faces.
