A red-hot idea

SOME of us fret about the ordeal facing immigrants, others worry about the euro’s exchange rate with sterling, maybe climate change, or even the startling prospect of Donald Trump in the White House.

A red-hot idea

More of us fret about the cost of school books and what it will take to get the family car, a wreck by any other name, through the NCT, but all the while life bounces along in other spheres and other layers.

Some events are joyful and uplifting, others serve noble causes and many of them are great craic. There are many, many things we could do better, but we do seem to be good at organising fun and raising money for good causes.

Both of these talents come together this weekend when redheads gather in Crosshaven to celebrate, well, their gingerness. At the carnival, photographer Jörg Köster will make portraits of eligible redheads, and proceeds from prints will go to the Irish Cancer Society.

There are many examples of generosity and fun coming together to serve good causes, but few are as novel as this one.
