Bord Gáis is a lost asset

July’s end saw Bord Gáis Energy-Centrica (formerly part of Bord Gáis) announce a profit of €32m for the first six months of this year.

This Government has given a successful Irish strategically-important energy asset to a private company. It has a huge customer base and would have provided a badly-needed and guaranteed revenue stream to the exchequer, but it has been taken out of the hands of the Irish people.

July also set the Irish record for the number of occupied trolleys in our hospital corridors. The people are continuing to pay a heavy price for government incompetence, on a grand scale.
