We are being dumbed down by search engines

TP O’Mahony’s article on ubiquitous celebritist vacuity just about covers it all!

He illustrates the ‘veneerealism’ bestriding the private exploits of the questionably ‘famous’ in his “brief history of celebrity”. (Analysis, July 20).

How sad is it that we are all presumed to succumb to such ‘meso-titillation’?

The mogul manipulators of news streaming and search engines are so powerful that they can almost dictate what we think about, and what we consider worthy of conjecture.

Cyber-dictatorship is rife and coming to a portal near you — at all times.
