Civil servants should not have jobs for life

As each minister inherits a team of civil servants, it should be that the minister has the capability and the courage to dispose of the misfits and no can dos - if he sees fit.

It is my opinion that this country cannot afford to have substandard officials in key positions and that includes at the office of Taoiseach.

This country needs proven people at the head of each department, people outside politics who want the best for the country.

Our failure to take on bureaucracy, whether it is religion or political, has destroyed this country and will continue to do so whilst we have weak staff, with jobs for life, advising politicians.
