Eircode have moved me from Meath to Louth

For years, I have waited for postcodes, so that Ireland PLC could finally take its place among the coded nations of the Earth. No more, I thought, will I have to worry about purchasing from Amazon.com and adding a fictitious post code.

Imagine my shock, when I discovered that my address in Co. Meath has suddenly moved 11 miles away and is now in County Louth.

All those years of shouting for Meath at Croke Park have been nothing but wasted, when my loyalties should have been to the wee county next door!

To add to this mess, if I want to drop a polite note to Eircode, to remind them that their address book is a county askew, there is no ‘contact us’ facility on their website.

The best bit is that Eircode operates under the ironically titled Department of Communications. You couldn’t make it up!
