We’ll be drinking moonshine before long

May I add my voice to that of Maurice Murphy (Irish Examiner, Letters, June 25). He is correct to say that minimum pricing is everything to do with revenue. Just look at the Government’s attitude to health, in terms of the HSE.

We’ll be drinking moonshine before long

But, to take Maurice’s point further, the politicians and medics are targeting the poor. No public representative or doctor drinks cheap, discount store beers and wines, and their own favourite tipples will be unaffected.

Only the alcohol that the poor can afford will be penalised. That means everyone from the middle-classes down. Will it be long before illicit booze shows up?
