The villages of Ireland are looking good

In many cases, parcels of waste ground have been transformed from eyesores into things of beauty such as environmental parks, usually for the benefit of residents rather than tourists. And for that much credit must go to the Tidy Towns competition.
Picture-postcard villages such as Adare, Co Limerick, and Sneem, Co Kerry, have led the way for many other places off the beaten tourist track and Kiskeam, in north Cork, is an example of what can be done with local effort.
