No negatives from gay marriage anywhere else

Passing the gay marriage referendum will not affect the number of children having two fathers or two mothers. Existing legislation covers that.

No negatives from gay marriage anywhere else

Looking at the experience of other countries which have instituted gay marriage, we find:

Massachusetts has had marriage equality for 10 years. No social calamities have occurred. None of the negative, long-term predictions of the conservative Family Research Council about equal marriage there came true.

18 other countries including Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, most of the US, the Catholic countries of Brazil and the Pope’s Argentina and more than a dozen others have legalised marriage for gays. None are changing back.

Redefining marriage will give it a broader, more inclusive meaning, while the old, restricted definition fosters prejudice.

Prejudice against a legitimate segment of our Irish population.
