Why our economy needs an independent overseer

The austerity affecting the people is an indictment of the previous government, and the present one.

This system squandered vast sums of taxpayers’ money, and is still squandering money (ie Irish Water). All the political freebies, trips abroad and continued wastage are included in this disgraceful behaviour.

The system must have an economic overseer, who would control the expenditure of the state. This body would be outside politics, and non-party, and would ensure the state got value for money.
