Tackle street assaults that result from drug/drink abuse
Obviously, those assaults occur through the abuse of ‘drink and drugs’. On August 31, 2000, 19-year-old Brian Murphy was kicked to death outside the Burlington Hotel in Dublin. Eugene Moloney, a journalist, was murdered on Camden Street, in Dublin, following an assault in June, 2012. Hospital figures show that the numbers of assaults are on the increase. Dublin’s Pearse Street garda station handles the highest number of crimes in the country, yet is down 120 personnel.
