Halappanavar death was not about abortion

As members of Midleton Pro Life, we wish to make the following observations on the pro-abortion programme shown by RTÉ in recent weeks (Abortion, Ireland’s Guilty Secret).

Halappanavar death was not about abortion

Among other things, the message was clearly conveyed that Savita Halappanavar died as a result of abortion being unavailable in this country. This is blatant disinformation.

The subsequent enquiry, by a specialist group — independent of the hospital concerned — found that she died due to misdiagnosis (human error). Abortion, or the lack of it, had nothing whatsover to do with this sad event.

How are Irish mothers, or unborn children, to benefit from the perpetuation of lies?
