Allegations of harassment of Dunnes staff troubling

When Ben Dunne opened his first store on St. Patrick Street Cork, he ensured many items, in particular children’s clothing was brought within affordable reach of many people.

The people of Cork have maintained loyalty to Dunnes Stores down the years.

A dispute has arisen between some members’ of staff and management of Dunnes Stores. Until now management has maintained its democratic right not to comment.

Therefore we only have views, comments, opinions of workers and union representatives. An aspect I personally find disturbing are allegations by some workers of apparent “harassment, intimidation, victimization”.

Until these allegations are clarified/denied, I will visit the stores in support of staff but will be reluctant to spend any of my hard-earned pension.
