NCAD needs to develop a new business model

I watched with regret the cry for funding by hundreds of National College of Art and Design students on RTÉ News recently, and wondered why the college management has responded to such an amateur approach.

The students filed into the director’s office to hand in their letters, with the director admitting to sharing many of their concerns, as core funding at the college has dropped by up to 50%.

Similar to any business, the college should undertake a strategic review of how it runs and funds its operation, and develop a model that makes its education provision less reliant on Government funding.
