There is public scepticsm about the wisdom of the war in Afghanistan said a British newspaper in recent days, a war in which there was “a lack of clear mission aims”.

I believe there are serious doubts about whether President George W Bush needed to start a war in order to get custody of Osama bin Laden.

America was in discussion with the Taliban about handing him over. Bush said “no negotiations”, set a deadline and when the Taliban did not meet this deadline, declared war. That move should be looked into in depth by any credible enquiry into the Afghan war.
