The Government should be proud of all its ‘firsts’

I, for one, fully agree with Minster for the Environment Alan Kelly’s statement in Killarney at the weekend.

The Government should be proud of all its ‘firsts’

This may well go down in the annals of the State as the greatest coalition government we ever had. Just look at their record since they came into office.

First to bring in the property tax. First to bring in the water charges. First to cut the children’s allowance. First to halve the electricity allowance to pensioners. First to halve the phone allowance to pensioners. They gave us a massive €50 Christmas bonus. God only knows what else they did, to take what few euros we have left at the end of the week?

But, not to worry, they tell us the econemy is on the rise and we should have more money in our pockets.

I had better stop here, or they may tax me for praising their record. Oh, by the way, Minister Kelly, your party were part of the government in office when Ford’s, Dunlop’s and Goulding’s closed here in Cork. Roll on the general election.
