Minimum pricing strategy is far too simplistic

The news that Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, is to introduce minimum pricing for alcohol is greeted by many with mixed emotions.

Minimum pricing strategy is far too simplistic

Yes, it is a step in the right direction but not the solution to deal with excessive alcohol consumption and its culture.

That is much more complex.

You wouldn’t mind so much if the money raised was to be directed towards our health service but that, of course, will not happen.

The money will be sent to fill the black hole created by the greed of bankers and bond holders - bond holders whom Leo Varadkar and his colleagues promised to burn before the last election if Fine Gael were to come to power.

It’s all enough to drive you to drink - if you could only afford it!
