Hard to call which politician most deserves derision

It was the week of the ‘Ms’. Offensive remarks about “midgets”, risible remarks by Michelle Mulherin, and sexist remarks by Michael Lowry framed a very sad seven days in Irish politics.

Paul Murphy, TD, proved that while he may be anti-austerity, he is not anti-midget. He condemned the use of the term by his fellow water-protestors to describe the president — even though he defended their right to politicise the head of State.
