Surely the Cork/Dublin air link makes sense

The current IAG bid for Aer Lingus has brought Cork Airport’s prospects into sharper focus.

Much of the commentary has highlighted that an air link to Dublin is no longer viable given the quality of the motorway. While it is more convenient to drive to Dublin city, the same does not apply to driving to Dublin Airport.

The M50 and parking facilities at Dublin Airport would deter the most stout-hearted. It would be much more attractive to fly from Cork to Dublin Airport. Why then couldn’t Aer Lingus, Aer Lingus Regional or Ryanair position an extra aircraft at Cork departing at 0630 for Dublin and returning late in the evening?
