Location of Cork events centre is bad planning

Will we ever learn? The proposed shoehorning of the new events centre into the constricted site of the old Beamish brewery must be one of the most ill-advised decisions made by the planners and burghers of Cork City Council.

The city centre, which is made up of narrow streets laid out in medieval times, is already badly burdened with traffic, so it’s not hard to foresee the traffic congestion and parking chaos that will be engendered by such a major centre.

The same deficient planning processes are responsible for the farcical situation at Mahon Point and its surrounds.
